Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports that Rangers third baseman Adrian Beltre felt renewed soreness in his right calf on Saturday while trying to run. As a result, he underwent an MRI on Tuesday and won’t be activated from the disabled list as expected.
Beltre, 38, suffered a Grade 1 strain of his right calf early in spring training and it has been bothering him ever since.
Joey Gallo has been handling third base in Beltre’s absence. He’s cranked out a pair of homers and has yet to commit an error in 54 defensive innings at the hot corner.
